Got
Botox?
With FDA approval for cosmetic applications
of Botox Wrinkle Treatment expected any day, consumer demand for
the already popular procedure is expected to increase 100 percent.
To handle the increased volume, Botox manufacturer Allergan Pharmaceutical,
named Dr. Harvey "Chip" Cole of Atlanta as instructor
for a national training center on use of the muscle-relaxing treatment.
Dr. Cole, founder of Atlanta Oculoplastic
& Cosmetic Surgery (AOCS), was tapped by Allergan because of
his background and expertise with the procedure. An early pioneer
in the use of Botox, Dr. Cole has administered the treatment to
over a thousand patients since 1989. He was the first surgeon to
describe use of the muscle-relaxing properties of Botox to assist
in the healing process of patients undergoing laser resurfacing.
"Botox offers a simple and relatively
painless solution to wrinkles, without the recovery time and expense
of surgery. The result is a rested, more youthful appearance,"
explains Dr. Cole. "When properly administered, the procedure
is virtually risk-free. This is why training is so important. I
encourage anyone who wants Botox to go to a surgeon specifically
trained to administer the treatment."
Botox was first used in the 1960's when
ophthalmic surgeons discovered its applications in treating patients
with crossed eyes. In the early 90's, the use of Botox expanded
into cosmetic wrinkle removal. While the FDA has approved Botox
for medical use, approval for cosmetic usage is now pending.
The cost for a facial treatment of Botox
is in the $500 range. During treatment, small injections of Botox
are administered to facial muscles resulting in a wrinkle-free expression.
The results typically appear within a couple of days and last three
to six months.
"This procedure truly is lunch-hour
wrinkle removal. Because no sedative or anesthetic is used,
patients can return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.
For someone who has an upcoming event such as a wedding or class
reunion, Botox can erase years from the face without the recovery
time of cosmetic surgery," notes Dr. Cole.
A specialist in ophthalmology and plastic
surgery, Dr. Cole is certified by the American Society of Ophthalmic
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, American Board of Cosmetic
Surgery, American Board of Laser Surgery and the American Board
of Ophthalmology. He has been named one of the countrys top
cosmetic eye surgeons by Harpers Bazaar and is included in Town
& Countrys magazines Directory of Top Cosmetic Surgeons.
He is the founder of AOCS, OCULUS, Specialty Surgery Center and
Georgia Graves Disease Foundation.

and reconstructive surgery of the eyes and face. Cosmetic services

Look
Ten Years Younger for the Holidays with a Little Help from Botox
A gift certificate for Botox Injections
makes a great gift for the holidays
Anyone who wants to get rid of worry and frown lines, "crow's
feet" and other wrinkles to look their best for a special holiday
occasion, can achieve great results with nonsurgical Botox wrinkle
treatment. Or, are you looking for an exciting gift idea for someone
special? Gift certificates for Botox injections are available from
the offices of Atlanta Oculoplastic & Cosmetic Surgery.
"Botox offers a simple and relatively
painless solution, without the recovery time and expense of surgery.
The result is a rested, more youthful appearance. The benefits of
Botox can be seen within two or three days after the injections,
and last about Three to six months," says Dr. "Chip"
Cole, founder of Atlanta Oculoplastic & Cosmetic Surgery. An
expert on Botox with fifteen years of experience injecting the substance,
Dr. Cole explains Botox is much safer than taking an aspirin. He
has treated thousands of patients including family members
and close friends since 1989 when he began offering Botox
injections. The actual bacterium is not injected -- a small amount
of a protein manufactured by the bacterium is used. There have been
no long-term adverse effects or health hazards related to the correct
use of Botox. The best candidates for the treatment are between
ages 30 and 60.
"This procedure
truly is lunch-hour wrinkle removal. Because no sedative
or anesthetic is used, patients can return to normal activities
immediately after the procedure,"
- adds Dr. Cole.
After the effects of Botox wear off,
the wrinkles that reappear are frequently not as deep as the original
ones. Many patients choose to have the injections every six months,
rather than undergo surgery. Clinical studies suggest that after
several rounds of treatment, patients may require injections less
often.
Botox is a viable alternative for clients
of Atlanta Oculoplastic & Cosmetic Surgery who do not want to
undergo cosmetic surgery because of the expense, or the time needed
for healing. Patients considering cosmetic surgery, can use Botox
as a way to test how they would look without wrinkles.

Dr.
Harvey "Chip" Cole Named the Best Cosmetic Eye Surgeon
in the Southeast
Dr. Harvey "Chip" Cole, founder
of Atlanta Oculoplastic & Cosmetic Surgery, has been chosen
by Harpers Bazaar magazine as one of the countrys top
10 "eye guys." He is the only surgeon from the Southeast
to be included and he is also the only one who is quadruple board
certified.
The magazine created the list to educate
readers about the special importance of choosing the right surgeon
when they are "having their eyes done." With several hundred
million working parts, the eyes are the most delicate and intricate
part of the human body. A half millimeter of mistake around the
eyes during cosmetic surgery, can cause very serious problems. Given
these stakes, people are wise to choose an eye specialist when having
cosmetic procedures performed around the eye area. After an extensive
research process, Harpers Bazaar selected 10 exemplars from
the hundreds of thousands of cosmetic surgeons nationwide.
A specialist in ophthalmology and plastic
surgery, Dr. Cole is board certified in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery, Ophthalmology, Laser Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery. He also
serves as a national instructor in the use of cosmetic lasers.
Atlanta Oculoplastic & Cosmetic Surgery
offers cosmetic enhancement procedures blepharoplasty, jowl
sculpting, endoscopic browlift and mid facelift, laser resurfacing,
Botox wrinkle removal, and facial liposuction for the eyes,
face and neck. Patients receive treatments for baggy eyelids or
eyebrows; eyelid and facial wrinkles and scars; neck/jawline contouring;
and lip lines, crows-feet and sun-damaged skin. Procedures
are performed with confidentiality at Dr. Coles private state-of-the-art
surgical facility that exceeds even hospital standards.
"We offer patients a safe approach
to cosmetic surgery that achieves a natural look and is minimally
invasive. With all the advances in cosmetic surgery, patients can
begin having minor procedures performed when the first signs of
aging appear and retain their youthful looks. It is also possible
for more mature patients to turn back the clock so that their appearance
reflects the vitality they feel inside," explains Dr. Cole.
